About Us
Storms are stronger now, so your roof should be too. We combine rugged craftsmanship, resilient materials, and advanced technology to build a roofing system that lasts.
Building Trust, One Roof at a Time

CarbonBlack is a locally founded, technology-driven roofing and storm restoration company on a mission to build resilient communities. Our name, CarbonBlack, reflects strength and endurance – qualities we bring to every project. We started this company because we saw Colorado neighborhoods getting hit harder by storms each year, and we knew we could help homeowners adapt to the new climate reality.
CarbonBlack began with a simple principle: do excellent work and do right by people. That principle lives on every day. From our project managers to our on-site crews, each member of our team is committed to quality, honesty, and treating customers like family. We don’t just build roofs; we build relationships. Most of our business comes from referrals, because nothing speaks louder than a job done right and a customer who feels genuinely cared for.
Our Mission & Values
Our mission is to strengthen communities one roof at a time by delivering superior roofing solutions and advocacy for our customers. We believe that by protecting homes, we protect families and futures. This mission drives all our decisions and partnerships.
Quality Craftsmanship
Never cut corners. We employ highly skilled installers and use premium materials so that every roof we touch meets the highest standards.
Integrity
We are transparent, honest, and ethical. From accurate estimates to thorough clean-ups, we do what we say we will do, with the utmost respect for our customers’ trust.
Innovation
Embracing new technology and continuous learning keeps us at the forefront of our industry. We pride ourselves on being tech-driven, finding smarter, more efficient ways to solve roofing challenges.
Empathy & Service
Roofing is not just about nails and shingles – it’s about people. We listen to our customers’ concerns, communicate clearly, and go the extra mile to reduce their stress (especially after a disaster). We also channel our success into uplifting others through community service.
Resilience
Just as we build resilient roofs, we foster a resilient team and company. Challenges are met with a “can-do” attitude. We adapt, persevere, and emerge stronger, which ultimately benefits our clients and community.
MEET
THE TEAM
Our strength lies in a remarkable team of professionals who bring both expertise and genuine care to every project. When you choose Carbon Black, you’ll work closely with industry veterans and community-minded leaders dedicated to your safety and satisfaction.

With a proven track record running a $25M+ contracting business and serving as Director of Sales for AccuLynx, Jim brings both field and back-office depth to the team.
He’s also the founder and Head Coach of ContractorCoachPRO, author of The Contractor’s Blueprint, and host of the Contractor Radio podcast — roles that reflect his deep passion for mentoring, systems thinking, and business transformation.

Cory Shelton
Cory Shelton is the Chief Operating Officer at CarbonBlack, bringing over a decade of hands-on experience as a catastrophic claims adjuster. He’s worked damage scenes in storms, floods, and disaster zones, navigating the complexities of insurance policies, scopes, and negotiations.
At CarbonBlack, Cory combines his deep claims expertise with operational leadership, ensuring that every project and process is built for efficiency, integrity, and results. He’s the bridge between the claims world and the field execution, making sure the work we do is grounded in what carriers expect — and what customers deserve.

Aaron Allen
Aaron’s career spans field work, claims, and operations. He started knocking doors, learning what builds trust with homeowners, then became an inspector evaluating damage, scoping repairs, and seeing how policy meets reality.
He moved into sales—guiding clients to decisions and handling objections—then into claims analysis and negotiation, working with insurers to resolve disputes and secure fair outcomes for clients and the company.
Now Vice President of Operations at CarbonBlack, Aaron keeps the machine running by aligning field crews, claims, sales, admin, and leadership. His end-to-end experience lets him spot inefficiencies early, clear bottlenecks, and keep the operation aligned, efficient, and accountable.

Jared Searcy
Jared Searcy is the former owner of A+ Exteriors in Colorado, now stepping into a key leadership role with CarbonBlack as our new Production Manager. He brings over a decade of hands-on experience in exterior contracting—managing projects in roofing, siding, gutters, windows, and more—along with a reputation for quality and communication.
At CarbonBlack, Jared will oversee on-site operations, workflow management, and quality control, ensuring that our projects are executed efficiently and to exceptional standards. His deep industry experience and operational drive make him a foundational and strategic leader in our production team.

Kevin Archdeacon
Kevin brings years of experience in exterior remodeling and insurance restoration, starting on the ground by knocking doors and quickly moving into leadership roles. He’s managed teams of up to 12 representatives, guiding them with a focus on servant leadership, training, and personal development.
His career has spanned everything from selling custom windows and doors for luxury homebuilders to managing large teams in roofing, siding, gutters, and paint. Kevin has worked with top manufacturers such as Kolbe, Sierra Pacific, Windsor, Gerkin, James Hardie, and Sherwin-Williams. With deep expertise in asphalt shingles, metal, and commercial coatings, he combines product knowledge with insurance proficiency to ensure homeowners get the best solutions.
Kevin also excels at building strong relationships with insurance agents, real estate professionals, and property managers. His customer-first approach and dedication to developing people make him a cornerstone of the CarbonBlack team.
Advocating for You
Insurance & Peace of Mind
One thing that sets CarbonBlack apart is our commitment to advocacy on behalf of our customers. We’ve seen too many homeowners struggle with insurance red tape after a storm. That’s why we decided to be more than just a roofing contractor – we act as your ally and advisor. From the moment you suspect damage, we’re by your side. We conduct thorough inspections (often for free), document all evidence, and guide you on whether a claim is warranted. When it’s time to file a claim, we help prepare all necessary documentation.

Our experts will even meet with your insurance adjuster in person at your property – ensuring that the full extent of storm damage is noted. A professional roofing contractor acting as an advocate can make all the difference in getting a fair settlement. We negotiate using our detailed estimates and knowledge of roofing costs, so you’re not short-changed on quality or safety. In short, we take the mystery and headache out of the insurance process, giving you peace of mind when you need it most.
Community Engagement – Uplift Colorado
Uplift Colorado
At the heart of CarbonBlack is a deep sense of community. We don’t just work here; we live here. That’s why we launched Uplift Colorado, a nonprofit initiative focused on helping those who need it most. As part of our About Us, we want you to know that when you hire Carbon Black, you’re also supporting meaningful community work.
Through Uplift Colorado, we:
Provide free or low-cost roof repairs and replacements for underserved families, including low-income households, veterans, and the elderly, especially those affected by storms or natural disasters.
Partner with local organizations to identify community centers, shelters, or schools in need of more resilient roofing. Our team donates labor and materials to fortify these vital community buildings.
Host volunteer build days – we invite neighbors, past clients, and local volunteers to join us in uplifting a family in need. Whether it’s hammering shingles or serving lunch to workers, there’s a role for everyone.
Educate and advocate – we hold workshops and attend city council meetings to promote stronger building codes and share knowledge about climate resilience. Building a resilient community is a team effort beyond just our company.
